  • Additional information about the Wastewater Department is listed below.  The Wastewater Department is part of the Town's Department of Public Works.

    The Town is currently bidding two sewer repair projects, involving cemetitious sewer lining and related work on Railroad Avenue and on Rte. 213 (Commerce and Liberty)

    Listed below is information about the Town of Centreville Water and Sewer Rates, per Resolution 02-03 (certain rates in yellow have since been amended).

  • The Town of Centreville is performing sanitary sewer line upgrades on Homewood Street, Draper Lane, and Chesterfield Avenue during February and March, 2008, which may cause parking and traffic disruption.  We apologize for the inconvenience as we work to enhance the environment and upgrade the Town's infrastructure to better serve you.  See more about the overall project to upgrade Chesterfield Avenue, Homewood Street, Draper Lane, and part of Water Street on the Streets Department Page.

    WHEREAS, the Town Charter in Article IX, Section 913, provides that the Town of Centreville may charge and collect such service rates, water rents, ready–to-serve charges, or other charges as it deems necessary for water supplied and for the removal of sewage,

     

    NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF CENTREVILLE, that the following rates, fees, rents and charges for municipal water and sewer are hereby established:

     

    SECTION ONE:  USER FEE – RESIDENTIAL & SMALL OFFICE BUSINESS (OFFICE BUSINESS WITH LESS THAN TEN EMPLOYEES) USES:                                                                                                   

    A.  Water Fee  -  $40.00 per quarter, per unit PLUS usage at $2.25/1000 gallons over 11,000 gallons. (Usage is based on water meter usage)

     

    B.     Sewer Fee  -  $55.00 per quarter, per unit PLUS usage at $3.00/1000 gallons over 11,000 gallons. (Sewer usage is based on water meter usage)

     

    C.     Sewer Only Customers – Sewer Fee - $80.00 per quarter, per unit.

     

    SECTION TWO:  USER FEES – COMMERCIAL & LARGE OFFICE USES: 

     

    A.    Water Fee  -  $40.00 per quarter, per unit PLUS usage at $2.25/1000 gallons over 11,000 gallons.      

     

    B.     Sewer Fee  -  $60.00 per quarter, per unit PLUS usage at $4.25/1000 gallons over 11,000 gallons.      

     

                SECTION THREE:  BILLING AND LATE FEE:

     

    A.    The user rates referred to in Sections One and Two shall be billed quarterly and shall be due and payable within thirty (30) days from the Billed date listed on the bill. 

     

                B   A late fee of $15.00 shall be assessed on all unpaid charges after thirty (30) days from the Billed date listed on the bill.

                                                                                                                                       

     

    SECTION FOUR: DISCONNECTION FOR NON –PAYMENT, DISCONNECTION FEE:

    An account remaining unpaid more than thirty-seven (37) days shall be subject to disconnection.  The service fee for disconnecting for non-payment of bill will be $50.00.  Service will not be reinstated until the amount in arrears is paid in full, including all accrued interest and service fees.

     

                SECTION FIVE:  FEES FOR SERVICE CALLS:

     

    A.  Service Calls in connection with the Town supplying water and removing sewage for
                      their patrons shall be set at the rate of twenty dollars ($20.00) per service call.

     

                SECTION SIX:  CONNECTION FEES: In order to finance the indebtedness associated with the Town‘s water and sewerage system and to support the capital improvements to and maintenance of the Town’s water and sewerage system, the following connection and allocation fees are established:

     

    A   Water connection fee:  $100  (plus time and material, as determined by the Town of    Centreville, if Town makes connection).

     

    B.     Sewerage connection fee:  $100  (plus time and material, as determined by the Town  of Centreville, if Town makes connection).

     

    C.  Allocation fees: (EDU = each residential unit or 200 gallons)

    a.       If, at any time, the Town shall determine that actual EDU usage is greater than was estimated and purchased, then the Town shall require the owner to pay such additional allocation fees, both water and sewer, according to actual usage, as measured by the water meter.  There shall be no refund of allocation fees for usage that shall be determined to be less than was estimated.  This also applies for change of use or the increase/expansion of current use.

                            Water - $5,097.00/EDU

                                        a.   $1,200 of this is to be earmarked for Arsenic removal.    

                            Sewer - $8,677.00/EDU

                           

    SECTION SEVEN:  BULK PURCHASE OF WATER (BUSINESS OR PRIVATE USE)

     

    A. $25.00 per the first thousand gallons of water plus $15.00 for each one thousand (1,000) gallons thereafter.

      

                SECTION EIGHT:  CHARGES FOR SERVICE BEYOND CORPORATE LIMITS:

     

    A. For the service of water extended or provided to areas of land or portions of parcels of land outside of the corporate boundaries of the Town of Centreville, the charge shall be twice the rate and fees charged for service and connection of water inside the Town’s corporate boundaries. Notwithstanding the establishment of this rate of service, the Town Council of Centreville shall not be required, obligated or compelled to provide water service beyond its corporate municipal boundaries.

     

                SECTION NINE:  FEES CHARGED TO VACANT LOTS

     

    A. All vacant, lots fronting on Town streets shall be assessed a $27.00 utility fee per quarter.
