The Centreville Municipal Water System includes two Water Treatment Plants. Each plant uses a filtration system to remove contaminants such as arsenic (chemical symbol “As”). Water tested at these Water Treatment Plants is compliant with current Drinking Water Standards.
The Town of Centreville also has a hydrant flushing program, which is intended to enhance water quality by flushing any accumulated sediments from water distribution system pipes, ensure chlorination throughout the system, and test pressure for emergency flow. This flushing is done off hours to minimize any inconvenience for our water customers. Customers may experience cloudy water during and immediately following such flushing, as sediments may be disturbed. If you observe cloudiness, please run taps until the water clears.
