The Town of Centreville will begin a major roads project in 2018 that will replace our aging water and sewer lines on Liberty Street and Commerce Street. This work is being done in advance of the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) road resurfacing project on Liberty Street and Commerce Street. Road work will begin in January 2018. Like all change, there will be a transition period as we switch through traffic from one street to the other. However, when we are finished, the oldest and most historic part of the Town will have new water and sewer lines.
The construction will take place in sections or phases starting from north of Town (the Corsica Technologies/Hardee’s end of Town). There are four (4) phases of this construction project and they are:
- Phase 1 – North Liberty Street split to Fayette Street
- Phase 2 – South Liberty Street split to Fayette Street
- Phase 3 – South Commerce Street split to Lawyer’s Row
- Phase 4 – North Commerce Street split to Lawyer’s Row
Note: During the first two phases, Liberty Street will be closed to through traffic. If Centreville is your destination – if you live or frequent businesses on Liberty Street or downtown Centreville – you will still be able to get to them.
Through traffic – people who are driving through to get to other places north or south of Town – will not be able to use Liberty Street.
